Logistics Centre
Thomas Phillips GmbH & Co. KG
Melle (Germany)

Because of the huge constructional volume it was at first required to set up a landscape conservation plan. The focus of this requirement was to do as less sealing work in between the building and its surroundings as possible. The appurtenant structures were created in a biotope. Two high rack storage areas assemble the logistics centre. Each of them is 40 m in height and connected to administration building, stock turnover and commissioning buildings. All supporting elements are built of concrete due to fire prevention requirements. The building envelope is continuously crafted from aluminium and glass structures. A total of 38 km drilling piles have been used for the foundation of the building.
